Fast food - know how

To condemn fast food in general is nonsense: Because fast food is just a collective term for "fast food" and does not say anything about the composition of the food itself. Even rather unhealthy fast food like hamburgers and hot dogs - consumed in moderation - will not harm your child. There is also "healthy fast food" that contains less fat and salt, no additives such as flavor enhancers, preservatives, aromas and colors, but is rich in fiber, minerals and vitamins.

"Healthy fast food" is usually self-made: Offer your child, for example, homemade French fries - thickly cut and best prepared in the oven, they are tasty and less greasy than ready-made French fries.

Many children also like deliciously filled baked potatoes. Pizza is also usually a hit with the young: Make it yourself and use wholemeal flour or at least a mixture of wholemeal and white flour.

For hamburgers, take a wholegrain or multigrain bread instead of a "cotton wool roll". It is best to sizzle the roast yourself from poultry, lean pork or fish. With fresh vegetables, which can also be prepared as a kind of schnitzel and with its own yoghurt sauce, the Hamburg-based self-made brand gets the final whistle.

In this way, you can nutritionally trim almost all "quick cook" dishes. High-quality ingredients soothe your conscience and usually do not let the children even notice that they are eating something "healthy". Don't forget that fast food restaurants are sometimes so attractive to your child because the food is allowed to be unconventional. The informal atmosphere, small portions, food from the tray without crockery and cutlery seem to stimulate the appetite. Try out whether your self-made fast food meal will also taste good to your child without the dreaded table rules.
