Due to the corona pandemic, many people have foregone preventive examinations at the dentist in the past few months. So far, it has been questionable what that means for their bonus booklet for the health insurance company. Now there is a little more clarity.

Children and young people do not lose the right to a bonus

According to the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Dentists (KZBV), children and young people who were unable to undergo a preventive medical check-up in the first half of 2020 due to the restrictions should not lose their full bonus entitlement. A recommendation from the umbrella association of statutory health insurance funds (GKV) to its member funds should ensure this, according to the KZBV.

The KZBV and the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Funds agree that those under 18 who are legally insured and who were unable to go to the dentist for preventive care in the first half of 2020 due to Corona, will receive a corresponding entry in their bonus booklet the next time they visit the practice. This then ensures the receipt of the claim.

Adults exempt from the rule

This rule does not apply to adults. In any case, you only have to undergo one preventive medical check-up per year in order not to risk the entitlement to subsidies - and this appointment can also be made in the course of the second half of 2020. Children and young people, on the other hand, need two bonus booklet stamps per calendar year.

Higher grants with complete proof

If the bonus booklet is kept without gaps for a certain period of time, then you are entitled to higher cash grants for a possible denture - for five years without interruption it is 20 percent more. (hh / dpa)
