Corona: Two weeks sick leave on the phone

Anyone with mild respiratory illnesses can now call them on sick leave longer than before if there is a suspicion of a corona infection.

Getting sick leave by phone was already possible during the Corona crisis. But only for seven days. This range is now to be doubled to two weeks.

Sick leave if corona is suspected

This was agreed by the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians (KBV) and the National Association of Health Insurance Funds, as the KBV announced on Tuesday in Berlin. The 14-day telephone certificate of incapacity for work is possible if there is a suspicion of an infection with the coronavirus. "The prerequisite is always that there are slight complaints of the upper respiratory tract."

Possible until June 23rd

If a coronavirus test is to be done, the doctor should tell the patient where they can be tested. In some regions, patients may need a referral for the exam. The practice should send this by post. If the patient feels worse, they should go to the doctor after registering by telephone. The possibility of a two-week sick leave is initially limited to June 23rd. (caf / dpa)
