In a child with a language disorder such as dysgrammatism, speech therapy can be used to determine whether the disorder needs treatment. Such speech therapies are usually carried out by speech therapists, but also by breathing, voice and speech teachers and speech therapists. The child is encouraged to speak and tell with the help of picture stories and picture books. Based on the type and extent of grammatical abnormalities, the therapist recognizes whether the speech disorder should be treated.

Different professions have different approaches to treating dysgrammatism. The treatment concept is also based individually on the age of the child and the type and extent of the dysgrammatism. A speech therapist usually lets the child do exercises on listening attention, rhythm and the use of correct word and sentence constructions. He uses picture stories and role plays.

If the dysgrammatism is an accompanying symptom of a more extensive developmental delay, the speech therapists work together with doctors, occupational therapists, physiotherapists and / or psychologists.
