The use of cell phones is now allowed in most hospitals, but is still strictly prohibited in some. But if you can move outside the clinic, you can make phone calls there.

The explanation for a cell phone ban is that the electromagnetic radiation could interfere with highly sensitive medical equipment. In the meantime, however, this is increasingly being questioned. Studies show that a safety distance of one to 3.3 meters is sufficient for the devices to work properly.

The Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices therefore recommends that certain areas of the clinic be released for cell phone use. Most clinics have already implemented this. In some hospitals, calls can even be made everywhere with the exception of the intensive care unit.

Tip: Find out about the regulations in your clinic before you go to the clinic.
