Umckaloabo is a herbal medicine that helps treat inflamed airways. Here you can read everything about the active ingredient, areas of application, side effects and instructions for use.

This active ingredient is in Umckaloabo

The Umckaloabo effect is based on the extract, the Cape Pelargonium root. This works against viruses and bacteria and helps with congested airways. The drug stimulates cilia in the bronchi, which transport the secretion upwards and make it easier to cough up. In addition, the active ingredient activates the body's own defenses.

When is Umckaloabo used?

A Umckaloabo application is intended for inflammation of the bronchi (bronchitis). But it is also used for inflammation of the paranasal sinuses and non-purulent tonsillitis.

What side effects does Umckaloabo have?

Occasional Umckaloabo side effects are symptoms of the gastrointestinal tract (stomach pain, heartburn, nausea, diarrhea) or an increase in liver values, which in isolated cases led to liver function damage.

Rare undesirable consequences of Umckaloabo use are slight bleeding from the gums or nose and hypersensitivity reactions such as skin rash, hives, itching of the skin and mucous membranes.

Serious allergic reactions with swelling of the face and airways, shortness of breath and a drop in blood pressure have been reported very rarely.

If serious or not listed Umckaloabo side effects occur, a doctor or pharmacist should be consulted immediately.

You should keep this in mind when using Umckaloabo

The Umckaloabo dosage of the drops is graded according to the age of the person and should not exceed 90 drops per day for adults (30 drops for small children, 60 drops for children from six to twelve years of age). The drops are taken in the morning, at noon and in the evening with a little liquid. In tablet form, the preparation is also swallowed three times a day with a sufficient amount of liquid.

The duration of treatment should not exceed three weeks. After the symptoms have subsided, the drug should be used for three to four days in order to avoid a relapse of the disease.

Overdose

So far, no symptoms of an excessively high Umckaloabo dosage are known. However, if side effects should occur, a doctor should be notified, who can take measures depending on the severity of the symptoms.
