In many cases, surgery may also be necessary: ​​For example, the cardiac surgeon implants new heart valves, creates bypasses (diversions for constricted coronary arteries) or implants pacemakers. And when the patient's heart can no longer do its job, the doctor transplants a new organ.

The pediatric cardiologist takes care of small heart patients. Mostly he is dealing with congenital heart defects (e.g. heart valve defects).
