Uterine cancer: symptoms in its early stages

Uterine cancer is difficult to detect in its early stages because it usually does not cause any symptoms. Precisely for this reason, attention should be paid to the smallest abnormalities. The first sign of uterine cancer is usually unusual bleeding from the vagina. Women should consult a doctor immediately, especially if this occurs outside of the menstrual period or after the menopause (menopause).

An unusually long bleeding should also be clarified by a gynecologist.

Sometimes there is also spotting or purulent discharge. Labor-like pains in the lower abdomen are also possible symptoms. Uterine cancer can also cause pain in the pelvic area or back.

Weight loss and loss of appetite can be other uterine cancer symptoms.

Uterine cancer: symptoms in the advanced stages

The larger the tumor, the more pronounced the uterine cancer symptoms become. This is especially true when the tumor spreads from the uterus to other organs. The vagina and rectum are particularly often affected. In the latter case, there may be irregular bowel movements and bleeding from the rectum. When the pelvic wall becomes involved, stabbing pain is a possible symptom.

However, uterine cancer can also spread to the urinary bladder. This may indicate bleeding from the bladder and irregular urination. In addition, affected women often get urinary tract infections as a result. This can result in blood in the urine (hematuria) and back pain.
