Dysgrammatism is a normal transitory stage during language development. The disorder is only considered to be pathological if it occurs after the age of four. Possible causes of dysgrammatism are, for example:

  • too much TV, PC and Internet consumption instead of real verbal communication
  • "Over-encouragement" of the child with appointments without sufficient recovery periods
  • general developmental delay
  • Concentration and rhythm weakness (the speaking rhythm is an important condition for sentence structure and understanding of word length)
  • Hearing impairment
  • Shortened listening-memory span (despite intact hearing, the child can only remember what it has heard for a short time)
