Iberogast is a herbal combination product that helps relieve gastrointestinal complaints. Here you can read all the important information about the effect, side effects and use of the drug.

This active ingredient is in Iberogast

The Iberogast effect is based on the combination of nine different herbal ingredients. These are obtained from bitter candytuft, angelica root, chamomile flowers, caraway fruits, milk thistle fruits, lemon balm and peppermint leaves, celandine and licorice roots.

These substances act differently on the stomach. On the one hand, you relax the stomach muscles, protect the stomach lining and soothe the stomach nerves. On the other hand, they regulate stomach movement and acid production. The controlled control of acid production prevents inflammation in the stomach.

When is Iberogast used?

Iberogast is used to treat stomach problems. The most common symptoms include stomach pain, nausea, heartburn and a feeling of fullness. It also helps with gastric mucosal inflammation and intestinal cramps.

What side effects does Iberogast have?

Despite the herbal active ingredients, hypersensitivity reactions can occur in rare cases when taken. Common Iberogast side effects are rash, itching, and difficulty breathing. If side effects occur, you should discontinue the drug and consult a doctor.

You should bear this in mind when using Iberogast

The duration of use is not limited and depends on the type and severity of the disease. If the symptoms last longer than a week or even worsen, the further course of action should be clarified with a doctor.

The Iberogast drops are taken three times a day before or with meals:

  • Adults and adolescents older than 13 years: 20 drops
  • Children aged six to twelve years: 15 drops
  • Children aged three to five years: 10 drops
