Perenterol is a gastrointestinal drug. It helps with acute diarrhea, to prevent traveler's diarrhea and can be used as an accompanying drug in acne treatment. Here you can read all the important information about perenterol use, effect and dosage.

This active ingredient is in perenterol

The active ingredient in perenterol is called Saccaromyces boulardii and is a medicinal dry yeast. Diarrhea (secretory diarrhea) is mainly caused by toxins excreted by bacteria. Perenterol binds these toxins and is eliminated through the intestines. It also inhibits bacterial growth.

When is Perenterol used?

The gastrointestinal remedy helps with acute diarrhea caused by bacteria, but is also suitable for the prophylaxis of traveler's diarrhea.

The active ingredient is used in combination with other drugs in acne therapy.

What are the side effects of Perenterol?

The therapy is largely symptom-free. The most common perenterol side effects are uncomfortable gas. However, these complaints quickly subside as soon as the drug is discontinued.

If skin reactions such as itching, redness, swelling or even shortness of breath occur, this is a sign of an allergic reaction to the active ingredients or ingredients. As there is a risk of allergic shock, consult a doctor immediately.

You should keep this in mind when using perenterol

Depending on the dosage of the preparation, the following guidelines apply:

Perenterol-forte dosage (250 mg):

The usual dosage for the treatment of acute diarrhea is one capsule each once or twice a day for children and adults from two years of age. If the drug is to be used to prevent traveler's diarrhea, the patient usually starts taking the drug five days before the start of the trip.

Diarrhea caused by tube feeding can be treated with three capsules a day. The contents are dissolved in 1.5 liters of nutrient solution and administered to the patient by infusion.

For acne therapy, the Perenterol-forte dosage is one capsule three times a day.

Perenterol dosage (50 mg):

Unless otherwise prescribed, the perenterol dosage for the treatment of acute diarrhea and traveler's diarrhea prophylaxis is two to three capsules three times a day.

When using Perenterol against acne, five capsules are taken three times a day. It should always be taken before meals and with at least 250 ml of water.

The drug must not be taken in the presence of allergies. Even patients with life-threatening underlying diseases and a weak immune system should not take the drug, as the active ingredient can enter the bloodstream via the intestines and cause fungal infections.

Perenterol can interact with antibiotics and thus be weakened in its effect.

After two days at the latest, the diarrhea should have improved, otherwise a doctor should be consulted, as organs can be damaged by the loss of fluid. The same applies to bloody stools or accompanying fever.

If the acne worsens after ingestion, a doctor should be consulted who will adjust the dosage or, if necessary, prescribe other drugs.

pregnancy and breast feeding period

The use of perenterol is not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding, as it is not yet clear what effects the drug can have on the child and mother.

How to get Perenterol

Perenterol is an over-the-counter medicine that is available in all pharmacies.
