Even if opponents of vaccinations are already protesting against an alleged corona vaccination requirement: Most people are probably inclined to vaccinate.

Many people are longingly waiting for a vaccination against the new coronavirus. But there are also opposing views: at the weekend protest demonstrations against government measures to combat the pandemic, anti-vaccination campaigners were also present.

According to the expert Bernd Harder from the Society for the Scientific Investigation of Parosciences, the corona crisis could encourage vaccine skeptics to put more trust in vaccinations in the future. "Because they see what a world without vaccination could look like."

Attitude to vaccination unchanged

Despite protests and online petitions against an allegedly planned compulsory vaccination against Corona, the pandemic has shaken many people. Because it shows us how much viruses can threaten our society, our prosperity and our existence.

"My impression is that the vast majority of the population is very inclined to vaccinate," said the Erlangen-based infection immunologist Christian Bogdan, who is also a member of the Standing Vaccination Commission (Stiko) at the Robert Koch Institute (RKI).

The Erlangen-based expert Bogdan also said that the Covid-19 Snapshot Monitoring (Cosmo) did not provide any indication of a declining willingness to vaccinate. "This does not examine whether enthusiasm for vaccinations is impaired, but whether vaccinations during the Covid 19 pandemic are perceived just as they were before."

Vaccine development is ongoing

The development of a vaccine against the coronavirus is in full swing. Several companies are currently working on effective immunization - also in Germany. You can find out more about the current status of vaccine development here. (caf / dpa)
