From May 4th, hairdressing salons will be allowed to reopen after a compulsory break of several weeks in the Corona crisis. To ensure that as few people as possible become infected with the virus there, some guidelines apply. The most important rules.

Do I have to wear a face mask in the hairdressing salon?

Yes. Both hairdressers and customers must wear mouth and nose protection when operating. You can bring your own, but the salons will probably provide one as well. There shouldn't be any problems with cutting, says Jörg Müller, General Manager of the Central Association of the German Hairdressing Trade. If necessary, the loops can be briefly removed from the ear. The customer could hold onto it during this time so that the mouthguard does not fall off.

Is hair cutting getting more expensive?

In the future, customers will probably have to pay more when they visit the hairdresser. The reason for this is, on the one hand, the additional expenditure of time due to the new protection standard. On the other hand, hairdressing salons have to spend more money on protective equipment such as disposable gloves, masks and disinfectants. According to the central association, all of this leads to a moderate increase in prices.

No eyelash tinting, no beard trimming

No. Customers will have to make some compromises. "Services close to the face such as eyebrow and eyelash tinting, shaving and beard care are currently not allowed," says the protection standard. This is particularly true for beards who specialize in beards. You can only offer men's haircuts in the future.

No coffee, no magazines

A glass of water or a cup of coffee will also temporarily not be available at the hairdresser's. However, you are allowed to bring your own drinks. Reading a magazine while cutting your hair or blow-drying is also prohibited. This is to reduce the risk of infection in the salons.

Leave contact details

All customers should leave their contact details in the hairdressing salon. This not only includes the address, but also, for example, the mobile phone number or email address. In this way, chains of infection should be able to be traced and interrupted. Those who do not provide their data will not be served.
