In view of the increasing number of infections and the expected worsening of the situation in the winter months, the federal and state governments adopted new regulations for everyday corona on Tuesday. Central points concern leisure activities and celebrations, dealing with regional outbreaks and the introduction of an early warning system. There shouldn't be any further openings for the time being.

According to Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU), the rising number of new corona infections is a cause for concern. Merkel said on Tuesday in Berlin that there was a significant increase in the number of infections, especially in metropolitan areas. Another shutdown, i.e. an extensive shutdown of economic and social life, must absolutely be prevented. Therefore, one will respond to outbreaks regionally and locally in a targeted manner.

Germany got through the summer well, but now a "more difficult time" is ahead with autumn and winter. But one can counter this with the right measures. These could only be enforced if there was a willingness on the part of the citizens to follow the rules so that the epidemic does not spread any further.

Merkel expressly emphasized that complete school closings should be avoided in the future during the Corona crisis. Schools and daycare centers are "absolutely to be run". However, a test strategy for teachers and children "and a certain behavior when an infection occurs" is required. In that case, the whole school should not be closed.

The measures at a glance

No further major opening steps: "The virus does not forgive negligence - it can only be combated if everyone helps!", It says in the paper. "In particular, the obligation to cover the mouth and nose in certain public areas is binding and is consistently monitored and sanctioned by the regulatory authorities."

Fines: Anyone who gives false personal information when visiting a restaurant should face a fine of at least 50 euros. Restaurant operators should also check whether the information is plausible. The data is collected to track possible contacts with infected people. Thuringia demands that it be stipulated nationwide that the information may only be used for infection protection.

Alcohol: Wherever the number of infections increases, regional "time-limited serving bans for alcohol" are to be issued in order to curb infections in the catering trade.

Celebrations: The federal states should set upper limits for the number of participants in private celebrations, in two stages. If there are more than 35 new infections per 100,000 people in a district within seven days, a maximum of 50 people should be allowed to celebrate together in public or rented rooms such as restaurants. For parties in private rooms, a maximum number of 25 people is "strongly recommended" - but not mandatory.

If there are more than 50 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in a district within seven days, a maximum of 25 people should be allowed to celebrate in public or rented rooms. For celebrations in private rooms, an upper limit of ten participants is "strongly recommended". "Exceptions can be made for announced celebrations with hygiene plans approved by the health department." Stricter local or state regulations are possible.

Regional outbreaks: If there are more than 50 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in a district or an independent city within seven days, "a consistent restriction concept" should be implemented immediately - possibly only for one affected facility.

Early warning system: The federal states should “set up a suitable early warning system” in order to avoid exceeding the 50-person threshold as far as possible. NRW Prime Minister Armin Laschet (CDU) and Bavaria's Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) had proposed a corona warning light.

Fever outpatient clinics: When the flu wave expected for autumn and winter joins the corona pandemic, it is likely to get tighter in doctor's offices and hospitals. Fever ambulances, specialist consultation hours and practices should provide relief. Risk groups such as seniors are advised to get vaccinated against the flu as a precaution. Health authorities that can no longer keep up with tracking contacts with infected people are reminded once again that in this case they should report to the state authorities, which in turn alert the Robert Koch Institute.

AHA formula is getting longer: The AHA formula recommends a distance of 1.5 meters, hygiene such as thorough hand washing and wearing everyday masks. Now two new letters are to be added: "C" for Corona warning app and "L" for ventilation. Regular ventilation is also recommended in the cold season. (cf / dpa)
