What is done during the U11 examination?

The U11 examination serves primarily to determine school performance and behavior disorders as well as difficulties in social interaction. Between the ages of nine and seventeen, the second dose of booster vaccination against tetanus, diphtheria and whooping cough and the first booster vaccination against polio should be given. At the request of the parents, the doctor will carry out this right away during the U11 examination. Girls aged nine and over should also be vaccinated against the human papilloma virus.

Without the additional examinations U10 and U11 there is a span of seven years between the check-up appointments - a time in which the child is exposed to many new impressions and influences when entering school and makes great developmental progress. This is exactly where the U11 examination comes into play and helps to identify deficits in good time and to encourage the child accordingly.
