Regaine Frauen is a medicine that was developed to treat hereditary hair loss in women. While bald spots are rare, some women experience thinning of the hair at the base of the head. Regaine for women is a well-tolerated way to counteract the progression of hair loss. Here you will find all the important information about the drug Regaine Women.

This active ingredient is in Regaine women

Regaine Women contains the active ingredient minoxidil and is available in the form of a two percent solution. Minoxidil expands the small blood vessels and leads to the fact that the blood and nutrient supply of the hair-forming cells (hair follicles) is improved. With regular use, Regaine women can activate the hair follicles, thus counteracting hair loss and leading to the growth of new hair.

When is Regaine Women used?

The drug Regaine Frauen slows down the course of hereditary hair loss in women, also known as androgenetic alopecia. While men’s hair loss manifests itself in the form of receding hairlines and bald spots, it is extremely rare for women. Rather, the hair becomes thinner and thinner if the hairline line remains the same.

Androgenetic alopecia is a slow and insidious process, so the earlier treatment with Regaine women is started, the more successful it is. Regaine can also help women with long-term hair loss.

What side effects does Regaine women have?

Like any drug, Regaine can cause side effects in women.

Occasionally, itching (pruritus), peeling skin, allergic contact dermatitis, skin inflammation (dermatitis) or fleeting skin rashes (rash) occur.

The following side effects affecting the whole body occurred in rare cases in clinical studies: increased water retention in the tissue (salt and water retention), triggering or worsening of angina pectoris symptoms (disease of the coronary arteries with typical chest sensation), dizziness, accelerated heartbeat ( Tachycardia). A decrease in blood pressure has also been reported in rare cases. Whether there is actually a causal relationship between the drug's effect and the health problems has not yet been proven in every case.

You should bear this in mind when using Regaine Women

Since the causes of hereditary hair loss lie in the genes, the cause cannot be eliminated. However, Regaine women can slow down this process. For this it is important that Regaine women are used regularly and permanently. The treatment can last three to four months until the first effects are visible. The treatment must also be continued afterwards in order to maintain the success of the therapy. If no progress is visible after eight months, the therapy should be stopped.

Regaine Women is available as a pump spray. An applicator is included with each pack. The attached spray applicator is the best way to use it on small areas of skin and enables the agent to be applied precisely. However, other applicators can also be used.

How should Regaine Women be used?

Regaine women should:

  • be used twice a day (morning and evening)
  • to be applied to the dry scalp at a dose of 1 ml per solution
  • To be used regularly and permanently

After using Regaine Frauen, hands must be washed carefully so that the drug does not come into contact with the eyes or sensitive areas of the skin and mucous membranes. In addition, at least four hours should pass after application before the scalp or hair is moistened.

Regaine Frauen must not be used in:

  • a known hypersensitivity to the active ingredient minoxidil or any other ingredient in Regaine women
  • simultaneous use of other drugs applied locally to the scalp
  • sudden or irregular and therefore not hereditary hair loss

Interactions of Regaine women with other medicinal products:

There is a possibility that the ingestion of the active ingredient in Regaine Women may increase the drop in blood pressure when changing from lying down to standing if the patients are taking medicines to lower blood pressure at the same time. Simultaneous use with other antihypertensive agents is therefore only recommended after consultation with the attending physician.

Regaine Women: Overdose:

Use in higher doses than recommended, or on larger areas of the body, may lead to an increased absorption of the active ingredient minoxidil into the body. These can affect the cardiovascular system, it can lead to a drop in blood pressure, increased water retention in the tissue or an accelerated heartbeat. In the event of accidental ingestion or symptoms of overdose, a doctor should be called immediately.

Forgotten use of Regaine women:

If you forget to apply Regaine Frauen, treatment should then be continued at the recommended dose. Applying a “catch-up dose” does not make sense and does not lead to an improved effect.

Regaine women during pregnancy and lactation

Regaine products must not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding due to a lack of studies on tolerability. The active ingredients could both cross the placental barrier and enter the child through breast milk and cause unforeseeable damage.

How To Get Regaine Women

Regaine Frauen is pharmacy-only in Germany, but is not subject to prescription. It is therefore available in pharmacies without a prescription. Nevertheless, before taking the drug, a doctor or pharmacist should be discussed whether Regaine is suitable for women and in what dosage and dosage form it should be used.
