Deutsche Bahn passengers can have their ticket costs reimbursed if the reason for the trip no longer applies due to the novel coronavirus.
(JR / dpa) The regulation applies to long-distance traffic, for example, if a trade fair, concert or sporting event is officially canceled because of the virus, the railway said. The goodwill regulation also applies if a hotel booked for the trip is under quarantine at the destination or if the train ticket has been purchased for a trip to the affected areas in Italy.
Deutsche Bahn announced that it was prepared for the virus to spread. If, for example, the authorities discover a suspicion of corona on a train, the area will be blocked and cleaned and disinfected after the journey. Passengers would also be asked to provide their contact details so that the authorities can contact them if necessary. Such contact may be necessary, for example, if a suspected case among the passengers is confirmed and further quarantine measures are required for the fellow travelers.
