The traffic light has turned red

The traffic light system takes into account the number of new infections, the proportion of free intensive care beds and the R-value, which shows how many people an infected person is infected on average. Because the so-called reproduction number was last at 1.37 and thus above the critical value of 1.2 for the third time in a row, the traffic light has jumped to red at this point.

The red traffic light was also a topic in the Senate on Tuesday: Kollatz pointed out that only one of the values ​​is problematic. "Of course that has to be looked at carefully over the next few days," he said. However, there is some evidence that it is more a fluctuation than a structural shift, because the new infections have extremely low values.

Several factors make sense to evaluate the corona development

Kollatz also pointed out that the R-value last fluctuated between 0.8 and 1.4 within a week. It always becomes difficult in statistics when you are dealing with small numbers. "And that's the situation we have now."
