Hearing glasses are rare and are only used in very special cases. It is a combination of glasses and hearing aid. There are glasses models with permanently installed hearing aids, but also variants that can be attached or clipped onto virtually any glasses. This makes modern hearing glasses very discreet and vastly expands the creative freedom of those affected.
Hearing glasses are especially interesting and useful for those who wear glasses regularly anyway. If you switch between several, you have at least the effort of having to switch the hearing aid every time. If you only need reading glasses, hearing glasses will not be a useful hearing aid.
There are air conduction and bone conduction hearing glasses:
The air conduction hearing glasses are more or less equipped with a behind-the-ear or in-the-ear device that transmits the sound to the earmold via a cable or a transparent plastic tube. Usually hearing and visual aids are firmly connected to each other.
The bone conduction hearing glasses are interesting for people whose outer and middle ear can no longer transmit sound, for example because the bones in the ear are damaged or the ear canal is too narrow or (chronically) inflamed. In bone conduction, mechanical vibrations transmit sound to the cranial bone, from where it reaches the middle ear. There are plug-in solutions here.
The reworking of the spectacle frame into hearing glasses is relatively complex. Statutory health insurance patients usually have to make an additional payment.
