Aids for the elderly - electronics

»Remote control: Almost all remote controls have many small buttons. Most of them are superfluous in standard operation and can hardly be caught properly with elderly hands. For seniors there are specially designed devices that are much more manageable and clearly structured. The most important buttons such as volume and station selection are generously laid out and can be pressed easily even with limited mobility of the fingers.

»Cordless telephones and cell phones: Many telephone manufacturers now offer devices with large buttons and easy-to-read displays. In contrast to the current mini trend, these models are also more generously cut. A clearly visible emergency button is also part of the equipment. Some cordless telephones have speed dial buttons that you can mark with pictures (e.g. photos of your granddaughter).

»Talking alarm clock: These clocks tell you the time every hour or at the push of a button. If you wish, you can be woken up by a cock crow. Most devices also have a large digital display. A wristwatch with the same properties is also available.

»Talking clinical thermometer: Dutifully measuring a temperature is of no use if you cannot read the value. This thermometer tells you your body temperature loud and clear. A digital display is of course still attached.

»Health apps for smartphones or tablets: If you want to deal with modern technology, health apps on smartphones and tablets offer added health benefits. For example, there are small programs that remind you to take tablets or that you can use to write down your blood pressure values. Athletes in particular can use it to count their steps and get an incentive to exercise more.
