Although the federal states have relaxed the corona rules, more and more people seem to be inadequate. All over the Federal Republic there were demonstrations against the restrictions.

The protest against the restrictions on public and private life in the wake of the Corona crisis is steadily increasing despite numerous easing of regulations. It has now spread to all of Germany.

Demonstrations with violations of the rules

On Saturday, thousands of people demonstrated in Berlin, Frankfurt, Cologne, Munich and Stuttgart, but also in smaller cities - often in disregard of the ban on large gatherings and the rules of distance. The police did not always intervene despite the violations. In Berlin, however, she temporarily arrested more than 100 people for not complying with the rules for containing the corona.

Conspiracy theorists came to the demonstrations, as did anti-vaccination opponents, right-wing populists and people who were difficult to classify politically. They protested against what they saw as excessive restrictions and encroachments on fundamental rights, as well as against an alleged impending vaccination against the corona virus.

Little distance, a lot of aggression

In almost all of the protest events, the police reported that the participants did not keep a distance of 1.5 to 2 meters. This was also observed by reporters from the German Press Agency at the various locations. For example in Munich, where around 3,000 people gathered on Marienplatz - according to the police, 80 participants were registered. For "reasons of proportionality" the demonstration was allowed to run. Everyone behaved peacefully.

According to the police, around 5000 people gathered on the Cannstatter Wasen in Stuttgart on Saturday. There were no major problems. The requirements, for example about the distance, were mostly adhered to, and the event remained peaceful.

In contrast, the police in Berlin spoke of "sometimes great aggressiveness" at a demonstration on Alexanderplatz. Around 1200 people had gathered there. There have been attacks on police officers, bottles have flown, and distance rules have often not been observed. The officers reacted, among other things, with the use of pepper spray. 86 people were arrested. During a demonstration at the Reichstag, 45 people were temporarily arrested for non-compliance with the rules. (caf / dpa)
