Prime Minister Markus Söder announced a two-week exit restriction throughout Bavaria in the fight against the spread of the corona virus.

“We cannot answer for waiting any longer. Every death is too much. Everyone has to be protected - also from themselves, ”said Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder at a press conference on Friday.

Two weeks exit restriction

As a result of the non-compliance with recommendations for action, the Free State will issue a two-week exit restriction on the basis of the Infection Protection Act from Friday at midnight. “We will orient our concept one to one on Austria and adapt it. Other federal states are planning something similar, ”said Söder.

What else is allowed?

This means that from Saturday, March 21, 2020, only those who are allowed to go out

  • to work
  • medical care needed
  • Donates blood
  • veterinary help needed
  • Shopping done for daily life
  • Family members, the elderly, the sick or people with disabilities are cared for
  • Helps minors or those in need of assistance
  • attends a funeral
  • alone / or. going for a walk with the members of the household or doing sports

Söder calls on all employers to enable their employees to work from home and to maintain the minimum distance of two meters during the company.

Outdoor sports and walking are possible, but only on your own or with the family. Group formation or gatherings of people are not allowed. “We're not closing Bavaria. But we are almost completely shutting down public life, ”said the Prime Minister.

Which will be closed from now on

In addition to the stores that have already been closed, the following stores are now also closed:

  • Hairdressers
  • Hardware stores
  • Garden centers
  • Gastronomy (excluding drive-in, to-go and delivery services)

Right to visit hospitals, old people's and nursing homes

The exit restriction also tightened visiting rights in hospitals and nursing homes. Visits are only allowed in the following exceptional cases:

  • Death
  • birth of a child
  • a child needs to be hospitalized

"No reason to buy hamsters"

The food supply remains intact. “There is no reason to buy hamsters,” says the Prime Minister. Cash withdrawals are also not necessary, "the banks remain open".

The police and the security service will monitor whether the measures are being followed. “There is no pass, but there are controls,” says Söder. Anyone who violates the measures must expect high fines.

Objective: to interrupt the wave of infections

With the new measures, Bavaria wants to try to break the wave of erratic infections. “We have to shut down social life almost completely for a certain period of time so that we can start up again later,” emphasizes Söder.
