Wick DayMed treats cold symptoms or flu-like infections. It relieves the symptoms without making you tired and is mainly used for coughs, colds and headaches, sore throats and body aches. Here you will find all the important information about the drug Wick DayMed.

This active ingredient is in Wick DayMed

There are two different dosage forms of the drug, which also differ in terms of the Wick-DayMed ingredients.

The Wick-DayMed cold capsules for the day contain dextrometorphan (cough suppressant), paracetamol (pain reliever) and phenylpropanolamine (sympathomimetic). The cough suppressant is used for dry coughs. However, it is not suitable for treating stubborn coughs. Paracetamol is suitable for relieving sore throats, headaches and limbs and relieves mild fever. Phenylpropanolamine belongs to the group of amphetamines and activates the so-called alpha and beta receptors. Norepinephrine is released, which causes the nasal mucosa to swell.

Paracetamol is also added to the Wick-DayMed cold drink as a pain reliever. It also contains a symphatomimetic called phenylephrine. It works in a similar way to norepinephrine, reduces the swelling of the nasal mucous membrane and makes it easier to breathe deeply. Finally, the cold drink also contains guaifenesin, which dissolves stubborn coughs.

When is Wick DayMed used?

Typical areas of application for Wick DayMed are coughing, runny nose, body aches and headaches. The remedy also helps with sore throats and low-grade fever.

What are the side effects of Wick DayMed?

Wick DayMed can rarely cause increased intraocular pressure or gastrointestinal discomfort (nausea, vomiting, heartburn, stomach pain, loss of appetite or dry mouth). Other side effects include restlessness, tremors, insomnia, sweating or palpitations. Difficulty urinating occurs very rarely.

If you suffer from severe symptoms or symptoms that have not been mentioned, please always consult your doctor.

You should keep this in mind when using Wick DayMed

The cold capsules can be used by children from the age of twelve and adults. For this purpose, two tablets are swallowed whole before meals with at least 250 ml of water every four hours. The patient must not take more than eight capsules per day.

Every four hours, one bag of the cold drink is dissolved in 250 ml of hot, non-boiling water. A maximum of four sachets can be taken daily.

If an overdose occurs accidentally, this can manifest itself as nausea and vomiting, muscle relaxation, cardiac arrhythmias or increased heartbeat. If you have any of these symptoms, please contact a doctor immediately.

Furthermore, special care must be taken when taking other medications at the same time, as the effect of Wick DayMed can be increased or decreased.

The drug must not be used in:

  • known allergy to Wick-DayMed ingredients
  • Heart disease
  • Circulatory disorders
  • Respiratory diseases (e.g. asthma or respiratory depression)
  • Liver and kidney damage
  • high blood pressure

Special caution and use only after consultation with the doctor applies to:

The effect of the drug can be strongly influenced by alcohol and the reaction speed can be slowed down considerably.
